Madonna - Ray of Light Demo Assembly (1997)
The mysterious, super rare and therefore highly craved Demo Assembly CD incl. 14 demos for Ray of Light (1997-1998) has been leaked in .wav quality. Fans have been dreaming of this rarity for years, never being able to access it for the ridiculous amounts sellers demanded (~ $1000-5000). The day it leaked, two days ago, was definitely like Christmas for all Madonna fans, shortly before her M14 rollout will commence.
Those demos are from her work with Babyface and Rick Nowels, before she found her right direction with William Orbit reworking several of this CD’s demos.
I highly recommend looking out for them, if you love her 1998 masterpiece. Next to never-before heard jewels like Be Careful or Never Love a Stranger (courtesy of Babyface; they remind me and many others of Take A Bow) it includes more traditional early cuts of Nothing Really Matters, Frozen, Power of Goodbye and more.
It gives a beautiful insight into the album making process and Madonna’s state of mind during her time of early motherhood after Evita, while finding her sound. This demo is basically the bridge between 90s Madonna and 2000s Madonna.
